Robben Ford Into the Sun LP and download

I would say it is good, but not great, but still worth owning. I think the lp is missing some "bite" in the recording, but good overall. I really liked the price of it as with delivery, under $20. So, for me a good buy. I did not see how the album was tracked, but I suspect a digital recording. I which they had used Welcome to 1979, a great tape studio in Nashville as their masters sound great on tape. They also have in house lp mastering and a good relationship with United Record Pressing. They invited me up last spring for a tour and we then took a private tour of United which was great and man are they busy and a new plant manager is a stickler for QC.

I will add that they give you a free download and in burning the tracks to CD with my great Sony CD Architect, it showed many digital overs with severe compression and peak limiting, kind of sad when I looks at the files in Sony Sound Forge as it kind of robs the performances of their excitement. I don't remember his previous releases being so dynamically compressed. All my other music from him was on CDs so I did not load them to see. The download is a bit rate of 320kbps so it should sound decent as far as mp3s go.

If you get it I hope you like it. I've listened now 3 times and will many more. I will do a needle drop to 2496 and see if I like that better than the download. I should.
