RE: RIP Jack Ely of the Kingsmen

Back when i was young i worked with a drywall hanger who later became a very successful contractor. He, dont remember his name, played with the Kingsmen, clarinet, at the Red Lion Inn on University Ave in San Diego. They of course starved to death and his wife pushed him to quit and do something else. He bought drywall tools, got fired from many jobs until he could make money at the work. When asked if he regretted not staying on until they cut their first album he said no as he enjoyed what he did.

The first time i was to work for him we were going to start a job in Rancho Santa Fe on a tuesday. I went to TJ for saturday and sunday, got home at 6:00 am and hit a note pinned to my pillow that my sister left. He needed me there that day at 7:30. I made it there, threw up all morning and we finished the next day....
