RE: I use Stylast too, BUT ....

John's cleaning procedure is very similar to my own.

First, I clean all my records with my Nitty Gritty 1.0 manual record vacuum cleaner. Actually, I hand scrub them with my Disk Doctor brushes, using MoFi Super Record Wash, and then I just use the Nitty Gritty to vacuum them dry.
(FYI, this includes new records.
Used records, particularly dirty ones, first get cleaned with super deep cleaner, and then with the Super Record Wash. MoFi sure likes the word "Super", huh?!)

Second, I put a new MoFi sleeve on any record that comes with a paper sleeve.
(I reuse any decent plastic sleeve that comes with the record though. Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard!) ;-)

Third, I brush them with a carbon fiber brush before every play.
(Sometimes more than once if I see specs of dust still on them.)

Fourth, as far as taking care of my turntable, I always brush the platter before I play records. (I have a dust cover, but still I notice some minor dust on the platter.)
As far as cleaning the stylus, I use MoFi LP No. 9. I use the brush in the bottle to coat the stylus cleaning brush, and then brush the stylus before each listening session.

I have been complimented by virtually everyone who has ever listened to my system, (or even if I bring my records to their place), with how clean they are, (and sound).

My two cents worth.
