Amazing all the greats I seem to have missed over a lifetime. Just discovered her and am enamored of her style and pixie voice. I'm sure she's not to everyone's taste, but I love her seeming nonchalance and vocal softness.

Amazingly, few of her reissues are available and ones that are are expensive. I emailed Kai Seemann at Speakers Corner to ask whether they had planned to release Dearie on Verve. He said that they had, in fact, an OK from Universal for several of her releases, but they recently rescinded them because they planned to release some of those in their Back to Black reissues. They also rescinded everything else in the Universal catalogue that was requested. That's probably why Chad never released anything else for Cat Stevens but Tea for the Tillerman.

I'm not sure this is good news considering some of the negative feedback about their Back to Black program. I guess we'll see.
