I think the gimbaled arm is excellent. I always felt it was the strong point of the Traveler, which happens to be a darned good table.

The Scout Jr. is better though because you have an upgrade path and hence the ability to take it to Super Scout status if you choose.

A primary reason for upgrading the arm in time would be VTA on the fly with what I believe is going to be a 9" 3D printed arm in the near future.
