In the late 1970s, or early 1980s, I acquired this album, brand-new. Karajan's interpretation of the title is the best I've heard to date, and surprising given that it was performed by a full orchestra, or perhaps only a portion thereof in light of its chamber-like quality. The selection has been done to death, throughout the years, across the globe, by this ensemble and that, and in vain I might add and dare say.The divertimento included within isn't too shabby, either.
In 2005, the original album was destroyed in a fire; waved 'twas.
The difference between the original and this exact copy: this copy
is mint. Not bad for $3...
