With a high compliance cartridge in a low mass arm, anti-skating should be set at the same as tracking force, e.g., 1.5 grams, and then fine tuned if youu are so inclined, or forgotten if not. But high compliance cartridges are more susceptible to skating force than medium and low complliance cartridges. With a medium-medium setup, a lot of people find that setting the anti-skating at 1/2 to 2/3 the tracking force works best. A cartridge that tracks at 4 grams is, I assume a low compliance cartridge mounted in a high mass arm. You need much less anti-skating than tracking force, maybe very little if any. I remember in olden times hearing that if youur tonearm didnt have an anti-skating adjustment, you should apply more tracking force.Trying to figure out what kind of cartridge you have, I see that Jerry Raskin's recommends setting the anti-skating at 2 grams.
