I also have a WTT Classic that had a low level hum, always thought it was the arm. I put a copper tape wrap around the square motor and ran a grounding wire from it to the phono pre ground screw. This solved the problem, completely silent, very nice between tracks.
You might not need the copper tape, I never tried it without the tape which is about 3 1/2 inches wide. The tape shields the motor a bit I think. I also have the arm grounded.
I have had this table since 1986, with some mods still sounds and works great.
