This unit is designed for VERY LOMC, 0.07mV output of the MC-20 was the design value. So it has 34dB of gain or so. Way more than many phono preamps have for LOMC, usually about 20dB, to handle the 0.2-0.5mV output. This limits the usefulness of this unit, which I have owned again with an MC-20 cartridge.
I recapped a friend's MCA-76 a couple years ago, not too many caps but they were the Frako caps that do go bad. Might be as simple as recapping to make it work, but it would need to see a tech.
These units do bring some coin on the bay and there are plenty of DIY guys that might want to try fixing this one. Put a low fair price on it and float it in the bay or get it fixed and sell it for what they usually sell for on the bay or elsewhere.
