RE: Looking for an inexpensive decent phono preamp as a gift for my daughter

I find the bass to be full and well defined. Not single note sounding at all but also not bloated and flabby. The midrange is very realistic in presentation. Female vocals have a natural realistic well rounded and defined sound. Imaging is spot on with a very realistic soundstage in height and width. Not as deep as some tube phono stages that I have owned but also not projected in front of the plain of the speakers. For the money and a whole lot more I can't think of another phono stage that satisfies and does so much right. I have tried and owned a few others but keep going back to the Lounge.
