I used to collect Japanese LPs

Pop/rock stuff with the OBI. I would have sworn they sounded better than the US versions - silky smooth for sure. Also usually better than the MFSL or Nautilus stuff from that period. And yes for some reason the Japanese stuff actually was NM not really vg like most of the US stuff - go figure? I attributed the sound quality to virgin vinyl and noticed similar quality with many European releases. But as my system evolved I came full circle and have concluded the best releases are originals from the country of origin. I can get NM US originals of 60s and 70s music, if I'm careful, that are equally as well cared for as the Japanese stuff that IMO usually actually sound much better than the Jap stuff for much less money.
