Because they can't be mounted to old head shells like the one I have on my Thorens TD166. The screw holes on the head shells of today's tables are on top to accommodate most cartridges, including the Ortofon. So I "settled" for another blue point #2, which I'm still very happy with.

Lesson learned: If you own a vintage table like the Thorens, check the head shell before you purchase a new cartridge.
