RE: Sarastro; French record label from the late 70's, 45rpm, superb sonics!

I discovered this label when it was briefly imported into the US. It was very pricey, and I only bought a small number. The notes talk about using the "Real Phase Stereo" dummy (artificial) head microphone technique of Georges Kisselhoff. His name is also found on many Calliope recordings. These Calliope records are much more common and therefore cheaper, but now found mainly in France. I bought a lot of these at Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. They had the sound quality of the Sarastro, but at 33 rpm. A bit of sound quality was given up for a bit more playing time.

I agree about the sound quality. They sound excellent on my system too. Anyone wanting to test the sound quality only needs to sample a few Calliope recordings. There are hundreds of titles with fairly high numbers sold in the US.
