Check the motor and pulley before buying

The only tables here I have experience with are the Thorens and the AR tables. Both can sound quite good when correctly set up. Before you buy one of these, however, be sure to remove the outer platter and belt and run them looking to be certain that the the motor shaft and pulley run perfectly and without wobble. If incorrectly handled, the platter can bang against the pulley/motor shaft deflecting the motor shaft resulting in a wobbling pulley. This ought to be avoided.

If the Thorens has a good arm, it seems to be the best priced choice amongst these offerings.

Good luck!

George
