the picture above shows 2 active isolation platforms; the Herzan TS-140 under the tt, and the TS-150 under the preamp and digital player.a Vibraplane is passive. it's an air bladder. you can have one that has manual leveling, or active leveling. but at the end of the day it's a spring like any other passive isolation. not to say that it's not effective. but any passive isolation will have an unpredictable effect.
the link below is to true active isolation; the Herzan TS Series. Halcyonics also makes a similar product. these active platforms are the latest technology developed mostly for going under an electron microscope. I have 2 in my system; one under my tt, and one under my preamp and digital player. they take decoupling any audio gear to a whole new level of performance.
