Hi, gonzo,
I moved across the country four years ago and started a new job, not knowing if I'd even have a job for longer than one year. My stereo and music was packed up and sat in boxes for over a year before I thought about unpacking it all and setting it up. Even then, I wasn't as enthused about it as I had been before I moved; starting the new job, really busy at work, tinnitus seemed to be getting worse, and I started realizing that I was slowly losing my hearing. (Getting older is a ditch. :-)I began to question my lack of enthusiasm, started to think that my stereo was just a big waste of money since I'd never enjoy it like I once had. Maybe it was time to sell it all and get a Bose Lifestyle system.
But after a year my job became "permanent", my stress level came down, and the tinnitus subsided (still there but not as noticeable), motivating me to get the stereo set up. After taking the time to get everything up and running and reacquainting myself with the music I love, I noticed that I was enjoying it more than ever. I have a new attitude now: You're only here for a while so make the most of it. I sit and listen to music as often as I can and enjoy every minute of it, often choosing albums that I hadn't played in 30 years. The thrill is back.
Hang in there and one day soon you'll wake up and decide that today's the day.
Regards,
Tom
