RE: New here: need tips for care of Vinyl and turntable tips, (I have a Garrard 95-B)

If you haven't gone to Vinyl Engine that's a good source of information from general to specific. Needless to say, they like records there.

What Bill Way said about the Grado cartridges is right on the money. they have a sterling reputation for sound at a good price with dependability thrown to boot. In fact, I got my brother a Grado Blue for Christmas.

If you don't mind shelling out the dough I highly recommend buying a record cleaning machine. I have the lowest price one I could find from a reputable company and I have never regretted buying it. It's one of the smartest purchases I've ever made. If you do buy , it's a great idea to get a carbon fiber brush (hand held) as well. that way you can clean a record with the RCM and thereafter for years clean it with just the carbon fiber brush. A properly cleaned record should stay grime and grit free for yeas wit minimal maintainance as long as that mimal maintainance is actually done.
