I really like the looks of the new VPI Prime. I haven't heard it, but I've heard other VPI turntables and they always sound very good to me. A friend with an HRX and DL-S1 cartridge sent me several Hi-Rez digital recordings and they are some of the best sounding vinyl recordings I've heard to date. Anyway, check out the new VPI Prime. It looks like an exceptional bang for the buck with its new 3D tonearm.
It is too bad that many vinyl enthusiasts do not also have topnotch Hi-Rez digital systems because it is easy to hear what a specific vinyl front-end would sound like in their own system by playing a Hi-Rez digital recording. It's also a good way to compare different cartridges. I think it's important to hear a component in your own system to truly assess its sound quality and synergy, especially when you intend to spend several thousand dollars.
Happy Holidays
