tonearm stopping/skipping

my stereo moved rooms recently. I removed my uni pivot tonearm wand before moving and on putting it back in (there has been a break of a month or so) Now the tonearm statrs skipping, then stops moving inwards, about half way thru play. I am wondering if there are any common reasons for this. I will be contacting the manufacturer, but I though I should try here fist
