RE: stereo to mono adapter - follow up

Thank you. I just purchased the KAB stereo canceller so I can listen to mono LPs through my musical fidelity integrated amp. I am unsure how to hook it up. Can I leave my phono cable directly into the phono inputs and hook the adapter into the tape monitor? That way wIth the tape monitor off I would be getting stereo and with the tape monitor on I would be getting mono, or do I have to put it between the phono cables and the phono input and have to rewire each time I want to change to mono?
