RE: Thorens TD-124 and EMT TSD-15

I own and have used this combo exactly--TD-124, Schick, XSD-15 (I think you need the XSD, not the TSD, although I vaguely recall that Schick may have arms that fit the shorter cartridges). Mine is in an Oswald Mill soapstone plinth. But it has been a while since I've had the EMT in. (I've been listening instead to an Ortofon SPU 90th anniversary). If you're not in a hurry, I'll put the XSD back in over the holiday weekend, do some listening, and provide an opinion later.
