well, one could move down into the Quintet series which have been well received in the press.

the Black: "comes with a Nude Shibata diamond, one of the best-available stylus profiles, mounted on a high-performance Boron cantilever" as quoted from MD's website. boron being the ne plus ultra material for cantilevers. that is found on most of the highest ranking carts and the Black is only a grand.

there are other sources for ortofon such as 2juki on ebay. i would email him if possible for availability of any cart you might want.
