because in 20-30 years you will need to change all the electrolytics in the drive system of your GT2000. And that's assuming that you renewed all the electrolytic capacitors just before departing on your "3 hour tour". Also, if you packed the replacement caps before departing, they will be aging in situ and probably go bad even before the ones that are working in the GT2000. So, keep an open internet connection to Mouser or Digikey on your island. And bring a soldering station; will you have AC?
I love direct-drive turntables, but for this WTF, I'd take a Lenco L75 or a Garrard 301/401. Those motors are built to last forever, and electronics are rudimentary. But even idler-drive turntables are subject to wear, of the idler wheel. Bring spare idler wheels.
