RE: TD124

One spare belt for rest of life. It should work. So many of this model have been found still sporting their original belt.

Lets just assume that I start off with a freshly optimized TD124. I can see that going another 20 years or so. Life would be just fine.

What I would not choose:
Any model turntable with speed control via printed circuit boards populated with capacitors and the occasional microprocessor ... and going *.kapop.*...like on one of those seventies direct drive models.

Nor would I choose a battery powered belt drive like that Teres I used to own. New battery every few years or yer back to the wall wart.

If not for the Td124, which is excellent btw, I'd go with a TD150. No fancy electronics speed control Just a long living AC synchronous motor that only asks for a steady 60 hz supply of volts. One spare belt would have to do it.....but that's my second choice, which I don't have. So I'm going with the TD124. It gets to the heart of what makes the music work.
