VPI Traveler Motor Drive Question

I have heard that the Traveler has an AC regeneration circuit that is powered by a DC wall wart PS, and that this runs the AC sync motor on the Traveler. Does anyone know anything about the regeneration circuit, how good it is, or if it can be adjusted to fine tuned the actual RPM speed
with a strobe disc? Would a bigger DC wall wart improve things?
