Got the Super Deluxe release of LZ IV today...

I ordered it a long time ago and my copy showed up this afternoon. I have not listened to it yet but I assume it will be the same as the first three (which I also have) and there will be too much compression.

I have the 200gm Classic Records release of LZ I, the MoFi pressing of LZ II and the 200gm pressings of LZ III, LZ IV and Houses of the Holy. I have compared all of these to the newly remastered LZ series and LZ 1-3 were all good but had too much compression for my liking.

I compared the waveforms of several tracks using Sony's SoundForge DAW software and it is obvious that some sort of compression is being used. The result is not offensive but it is harder on the ear than the original. I have not performed the same tests with the original releases of the LP pressings I have sitting on the shelf.

Sound quality complaints aside, the super deluxe release has some historic purpose. The superb coffee table book plus the unreleased tracks on the second LP make it worth the asking price if you are a serious collector. If you cannot afford the Classic Records releases or cannot afford or find a clean MoFi LZ II, these remastered Led Zeppelin releases are good but not without issue.

The reason I am writing this is to inform you that the new LZ IV super deluxe release looks like another fine product but I ran into one issue that I expect to be fixed in short order. The 24/96 downloads that come with this release are not available on the Led Zeppelin website as of this writing.

When you go to www.LedZeppelin.com/HDdownload the only available releases are LZ 1 - 3. I tried to manually change the URL that is submitted when you click on the cover photo but you receive that the page cannot be found.
