RE: Trying different 12AX7s is one thing. Trying different tube types, another.

I have the MS12-b and while I've only tried 5751's for an hour or so (as they ended up making more of a positive difference in my power amp) it's a lot of fun to try varying 12ax7's.

So far I've tried 1950s RCA black plates (very lush and one of my favorites, 1950s CBS (currently my fave) and some Raytheon black plates (which seemed a bit thin--I'll have to try 'em again).

I've yet to try the current production Sovtek 12ax7LPS, Genelex or Tung-Sols, so I can't give input on those. All are supposed to be good tubes.

No matter, I think as long as your replacing the stock Chinese tubes, you're taking a step in the right direction.
