The last few seconds of Helter Skelter and the start of Long, Long, Long in a 24/96 flac should give a hint of the LP noise level. The clip is posted to a public dropbox share.
Gear:
modded TD125-II/Hadcock 242/Hadcock Isolator/Musicmaker 3/Discovery wire
modded VTL Deluxe preamp
Metric Halo ULN-2 at 24/96
Protools 10.3.9 on 2009 Macbook Pro running OSX 10.6.8
UAD Manley Massive Passive 22 Hz 18 dB/octave high-pass EQ plugin
Cardas Quadlink (tt-to-VTL) & Mogami Neglex (VTL-to-ULN2)
generic FW800 wire from ULN2 to MBP
The ticks are static. I left the high-pass in to clean up turntable bearing noise, which is also most probably the limiting factor in the chain.
The overall slant of this gear is definitely on the polite side, which is accentuated by the limited highs on the records.
