Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

Based on a subliminal suggestion from Tuesday night's spins below...

... I just had to play the Elements LP called "Illumination".

I bought this when it came out back in the 80's and really hadn't listened to it much since then. But boy, did I play a lot back then (being an aspiring bass guitarist, who wouldn't?).

Listening to this, I would have thought I'd drift back into my 80's heyday of learning bass, trying to bed down my hot, lanky, volleyball girlfriend at the time (now D-wife! YES!!!) and not having to worry about taxes, bills, etc...

Weirdly enough, NONE of that came to mind! Instead, I was amazed at the relatively well recorded/multitracked drums and bass guitars. A little surface noise here and there once in a while, and some IGD on the last track of each side as a result of the T4P fixed tracing geometry (and famous/infamous "standardized" 1.25 grams tracking force, courtesy of my long gone Technics SLQ-200 'table). Some of the sounds are a little dated now, and even sounded completely different from my 18-19 year old memories of this LP.

Overall, it was an ear refreshing time listening to this again after literally not having played it in almost 25+ years.

Holy crap! That album is THAT OLD???
