Thanks for sharing this info...
I just lightly remember seeing the CS-455 GOLD at some local dealers in the U.S. around the early/mid 2000's and the price was somewhere around $455.00 USD. The CS-505-4 was something like $750.00 USD +/- a bit. But again, it was so short a time that they were here and just like that, they were gone. A lot of the dealers here in the U.S. dropped the lines as they reported to many returns/issues. I never had a CS-455, just a Thorens TD-190-2 which was OK, but not as decent sounding as the CS-460.
I was told by the current Distributor that like me, they have never seen the CS-600 in person nor do they think it will be a worthwhile import to North America...dollar wise. They also were not supporting the CS-505-4 at this time, you hit on most of the reasoning for that.
Pricing is really HIGH. I guess based on what you have said and what AudioScape has said, the current Dual owner has set pricing and is not discounting at all so AudioScape is paying high to start with and has to sell high. This could well keep DUAL out of the market or force them out of the market again...and that would be sad.
Thanks again for the info...
