Laura's and James Buckley's reworking of Sing to the Moon is just stunning. Dynamic, spacious and quiet on my humble RPM5 and slaughters the 24/48 download from SOS. Vocals are better realised and the depth to the performance is magical.
I didn't like the original album when I heard it last year thinking it was too strident and too 'clever' but this is a whole dimension better.
The Metropole Orkest are wonderfully modern and have supported Todd Rundgren and Mathilde Santing in the past and probably more that I have never noticed.
It's limited to 500 copies so get your copies now. I bought 2 I thought it was that special.
Just shows how a 500 quid deck can trounce 15k worth of digital.
Lucky enough to see her and the Orkest at the Royal Albert Hall last week which blew me away. Next month Mary Chapin Carpenter with Vince Mendoza.
Sing to the Moon indeed.
