Last night's spins at Chez-Dman... Oh boy! Here we go!

What a weird night here! Started off looking for an album (Simply Red's Picture Book) at the insistence of D-wife (which was perpetuated by my posting regarding national radio day in General Asylum). That took half an hour to find, simply because some of the collection hasn't been organized since the move here some months back.

While we were looking for that, the following were played-

1. Captain Sensible "Women and Captain's First" Side Two, last track. Campy and somewhat goofy Brit-pop back in the 80's before the term Brit-pop became a cultural tagline. Specifically, his cover of "Happy Talk" from the musical South Pacific. D-wife was incredibly amused at this one, having never heard of CS or this cover.

2. Simply Red "Picture Book". We finally found it! For some reason, it was next to Michael Hedges in the jazz section (WTF???). Of course, the "radio song" D-wife was referring to was "Holding Back the Years". I then proceeded to play her a few tracks from side one (Their nicely done cover of Talking Heads "heaven" and then the last track called "Jericho".

3. The Art of Noise "Below the Waste" Side one. Not their best known work, but to ME, the best of their work!

4. The Art of Noise "Who's Afraid of...?". Side two. She absolutely loved "Moments In Love". She wasn't too hot about the more experimental sampled stuff, but I grew up hearing this, so it's almost second nature to me now...

Sorry for possibly hijacking your posting, but since no on else has posted a "what's spinning" type of thing lately, I just had to take advantage of this!
