It's disturbingly amazing what people put on their facebook accounts and don't limit who can view their profile. This would be a great time to be a criminal! People take pictures with GPS tags and post for the whole world to see. Say you take a picture with a GPS tag of yourself getting an expensive Christmas present, say a $10K VPI or something. You have just done most of the work for a thief. He now knows where you live, what you have of value and what room you keep it. Then you go on vacation to Disneyland or something and post all about it real time. Now the thief knows you aren't home!!!

Say you take pictures of your kids at home, at the park and their school. Now a sex predator knows where you live, where your kids like to play and where they go to school.

But overall the risks can be managed. Never use GPS tags, never say where you are real time (I deployed to Afghanistan last year and didn't mention it once on facebook! as far as everyone knew I was at home like normal) limit who can see your posts to friends and make yourself unfindable. Mostly though, don't be stupid. If you can do that it really is a great way to reconnect and stay in touch with people.
