Several years back I bought my "last" turntable. I figured that this will likely last me to the end of my days; a VPI HW-19 jr with a Rega RB-300 arm and Benz Micro Gold cart.
When I heard that combo (don't recall the phono amp) at the dealer, I was instantly in love... This phono system was light years ahead of my former rig which was a Technics SL-1300 with a Signet TK7E cart (not as good as the TK9e but nice nonetheless).
Several years later I upgraded my phono amp to a Graham Slee 3 and later with the PSU power supply (the PS upgrade really increased the solidity of imaging and tightened the bass line considerably.)
I thought the pricing was at least triple the cost... super accurate, deathly quiet, surface noise was amazingly absent.
I highly recommend the VPI (new or used).
Good Luck and Happy Listening!
