The free market ...

Hi, hcman,
If there's a way to make money without really working for it, people will do whatever they have to do. Rules (and sometimes a conscience) be damned.

For myself, I don't really give a crap what happens to those RSD releases. I own a RSD exclusive release that I picked up at a record store a couple of years ago (long after its RSD debut) but it has no sentimental value as a RSD release. It's just a LP record like all the rest of my LPs; music is music. And if there's music that isn't available on anything other than an exclusive RSD release, I'm certainly not going to get upset that I don't own a copy.

If more people didn't give a crap about these things, the less likely scalpers would be able to sell them for profit. Supply and demand. I like that there's renewed interest in records and that RSD encourages people to get out and visit a record store or two. But I think the motivation for purchasing RSD releases has become tainted by all the hype.

Regards,
Tom
