I was able to get a copy of the Jaco Pastorius Criteria Sessions on LP this weekend on Record Store Day. The 2nd side has some occasional glitch sounds, as though there was a bit of a mispressing. There are enough of them to make it annoying, especially with the sort of mid-fi sound of the release, whereas the glitch sounds have more presence and edge.
I can return the LP for a refund and look for either another copy on LP or just get it on CD, which is a format easier to find this release. I don't find this an essential release, musically. It's just early Jaco with some ideas that would germinate into other releases later. I might just end up returning it for a refund and put my money toward something else (It was $22 plus tax).
Has anyone been able to compare the CD with the LP in terms of sonics? I believe the CD might have a cut or two that are not on the LP.
