I finally got my main music system working again after my static-induced woes began a couple months ago. It now appears the original power amp was OK, but the programmer boxes I was trying to use had issues. My old systems-group partner located a good working interface, and all three amps I have talked, took a flash, and played music just fine. I'm now using separate amps for the R and L channels. This should reduce distortion at high volumes due to a minor bottleneck in the amps' on-board PSUs. The entire amplification chain now runs on batteries and sounds fantastic!
