My youngest sister was born in 1964. While my mom was in the hospital, she struck up a friendship with the woman in the other bed who's husband was an engineer.
And, as it turned out, an audiophile. We had dinner at their house and he used The Sound of Music soundtrack to demo his system for us.
Yes, it was that good. Got my dad interested in components, led directly to my own obsessions of today.
If I were you, I'd keep looking. I'm sure RCA sold millions of copies of that record and sooner or later you'll find one that wasn't played to death on some groove-grinding console stereo.
I've had no problem finding undamaged copies of Frank Sinatra's earliest Capitol LPs. If they're out there, so is your soundtrack.
