I've built about a dozen 208 plinths for friends in my local DIY community.
With the 208/298 variants I have seen a later style construction that has the spindle bore bushed with two bronze sleeves, not just a cast iron bore as most of them I've seen.
This later model also had a silver finish on the motor armature, like a 498 I have.
The silver motor has the distinction of running quieter than the gold armature motors I have worked with. Thanks for sharing, BTW!
