Hello John
Finally got my replacement today. Serial number - dig this! - 1811 !!!
I called Robert at Comet Supply. He told me that this one is brand new, and fresh, but that they have contacted Denon to clarify this serial number nonsense. He told me he will shoot me an email as soon as they hear anything.
As far as the cartridge goes, it's too early to tell, but 10 hrs into play I like it. It reminds me a lot of the 103, but much more sophisticated, and it tracks great. Same very even presentation, less liquid than, let's say Dynavector 17D, very well controlled. It also seems to be a lot less harsh than both AT OC9ML II and the AT33PTG. It seems to be more forgiving, producing more even music from very varied recordings. Very nice indeed. Velvety smooth. I think I'll keep until I win the lottery and get myself a Koetsu or something like that :-)
