Hi, Audiogabby:
I own a walnut disc, about 5" in diameter, with a smoked lucite "bubble" top piece. This item was manufactured specifically to house several cartridges, already mounted in headshells. It holds them vertically. There are openings which are sloted in such a way so when you insert your headshell, they are held firmly and in some cases, the locator flange pin on the connector side of the headshell fits into the plastic insert on the walnut base itself.
I believe that his might have been a product of Discwasher years ago and I forgot where I got it originally. It is quite an elegant way to store things like that. I have just viewed a site featuring products offered for sale by Esoteric Sound and among the items listed are individual housings to store a headshell with cartridge mounted. Check out their other products. The products seem quite properly tailored for some rather unsuual applications, hence the name "esoteric".
BTW, I have no connetion with this vendor at all.
