I would comment that in addition to reducing wear, Last reduces distortion. I read this a long time ago in IAR, (International Audio Review), which somehow measured it. This could account for the feeling by some that it causes reduction in high frequencies. Let me add that some people feel that the added sense of depth one gets from vinyl vs. CD is also caused primarily by various kinds of distortion. (I'm skeptical of this, but it's not nonsensical.) In any case, I use Last and Stylast religiously, as well as the Stylast stylus cleaner. I had a Van den Hul ONE for decades that showed very little wear, although the suspension wore out and the high frequencies and dynamics got dull. (I just replaced it with a an den Hul Frog, and can assert that the highs and dynamics are very much back! A great cartridge.) Van den Hul only glues his tips to the cantilever, and I didn't experience a problem.
