HI dancing,
I don't know because I have never used Grov Glide. This is one of those deals where after I discovered Last and tested it and experienced the results, I lost all interest in other products. Grov Glide may work but I'm skeptical. Especially since it leaves a residue on the vinyl.Over the years I have tried every vinyl treatment that ever hit the market. They were all flawed until I started using Last.
Like, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm really not interested in Grov Glide.
You all should understand the the aspect to stylus longevity associated with Last and Stylast will only become apparent if it becomes your normal method of playing records. It's a lifestyle change. Last and Stylast is such a normal part of my record playing routine that I don't even think about it. I just do it, no questions asked.
Also, and this is important, the little bottles of Last are very expensive. In my view they are not cost effective except, maybe, as an experiment. If you are making a commitment to Last, it is a lifetime investment. You you should buy the quart bottles. It's not by any means cheap but is much cheaper than the little bottles. I think the last time I bought a quart it cost about $300. Well worth it. Don't gasp! But the quart bottle will last a long time. Figure that it costs about $1.00 to treat a record if your using the quarts.
Also, just how does one actually apply Last? It's a problem that must be solved. By hand it is difficult and dangerous for your records because of the possibility of fumbling. I found the solution was a good RCM that has a horizontal platter and a strong motor. If you already have a VPI RCM, you are there. I have a VPI 17 which works great and has the important side benefit of being a great RCM. But a VPI 16.5 will work just as well for Last application. It just won't clean records as well as the 17.
