I like playing records when at home, but I also travel a lot, and like having music on the server for entertaining and casual listening, so I want digital copies of my LPs for portability and convenience.
I built a Hagerman Ripper, downloaded Audacity, and got started with very good results. But I never got very far into my collection due to time constraints. By the time I got set up, cleaned the record, recorded and post-processsed the file, I was lucky to do one or two titles a session.
But procrastination has its benefits. My daughter is now 13 and looking for ways to earn more pocket money. So we struck a deal. I've trained her in the process and she is doing a great job. Plus it exposes her to a lot of music that she would not otherwise hear. It may take a couple of years at the rate we're going, but that's OK.
