Is it only the phono, or is it other inputs as well? If all inputs, problem is in the speakers (or their interconnects) or the amp/preamp - as George says, work back systematically from the speaker. If only the phono, then it's a cartridge/phonostage/ pre-amp or amp phono input issue. Work backwards from the power amp.
