In Reply to: Anyone Know of Relatively High "pf" Phono Cables That Are Shielded? posted by Uncle Hippie on June 26, 2012 at 12:09:28:
I know nothing about the TTIQ but have opened up a few TTs and there is either a circuit board or solder loom lurking inside the bottom plate that the cables are soldered to.
It's nearly certain the the cables aren't broken but either the connection to the tonearm or the male RCA plugs. Easy enough to fix either way but soldering will be required in either case and replacement RCA plugs if the molded ones are damaged. If that's the case, the OEM cables are retained and capacitance issues, not terribly important to begin with, are gone.
After all that, it could be that the cartridge wires to the tonearm are damaged, a much more common occurrence than the above, which will result in , you guessed it, a need to solder.
