Many cats over the decades, probably at least a dozen, and no damage to TT or records (so far). The one exception being the spines of some junker LPs left out loose in the basement many years ago for the thrift. Your new cats may prove to be housetrained. Most are pretty smart and know where they are not supposed to go (at least when you are home).
Perhaps we've been lucky. The records have always been shelved like books, and the area around the TT is generally too cluttered for cats to go up there. On the other hand, any cardboard box left out is slashed to ribbons.
Besides that, the cats cheer me up if I ever get the blues. They seem to know.
