In my youth, I met folks who still remembered "little Willie Basie," as he was called back in the aughts.

I picked up Count Meets the Duke yesterday on a mono promotional pressing, which pairs Mr. Basie's band with that of Duke Ellington. The massed horns don't sound quite as great as they do on the 4-track reel to reel of the same title, but the mono more than makes up for it with FAT bass.
