I'd send it to Denon, my guess is there was some inherent flaw, chances are they'll replace it as there doesn't seem to be any indication of poor care, rough handling etc.

Hopefully you are aware of the fact that view like this (Jewelers loupe level)
are useless as far as actual meaningful stylus wear (wear polish) assessment.

This is an example of what you should be looking at for wear assessment
which requires both adequate resolution and proper lighting
