Yes, really. My college roommate and I were moving into a new house. He had stacked his stereo components in a corner and covered them with a towel or something so that I did not notice them. I came in with a very large potted plant in one of those ceiling-mounted hangers. I looked around, saw a hook in the ceiling, and hung it there. Not long after, we both heard a crash. The hook had pulled out of the ceiling and dropped about 20 pounds of terracotta, damp soil, and foliage right on top of a Technics TT. Amazingly enough, only the dust cover and cartridge were destroyed.
